Q: WHAT IS IT?
A: Crockpot Capstone is a compendium of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) I learned in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at the Evergreen State College (TESC). It is an academic text that technically fits in a 2” binder; however, it reflects best when paired with the bright green, 3” binder that’s bursting with personal experiences and professional memories.
Q: WHO IS YOUR AUDIENCE?
A: This project is for me, my peers, MPA faculty, and obviously my parents, who have been asking to see my work for at least a lifetime.
Q: HOW SHOULD I READ IT?
A: I’m won’t ‘should’ on you. The structure allows readers to view everything chronologically, to skip around arbitrarily, or to search for content from certain courses and contracts specifically. All parts are designed to remind you of community (local and global) and to facilitate a sense of “I-am-exactly-where-I’m-supposed-to-be” regardless of where you are (literally and figuratively). Page 26 makes me laugh.
Q: WHERE CAN I FIND IT?
You can wait for it to appear in your office, contact me directly, or hack one of my email accounts and then casually click here and here.
Q: WHEN WILL IT BE READY?
A: On a scale of 1 to never, definitely a yes.
Q: WHY “CROCKPOT CAPSTONE'“?
A: The title is an homage to the Crockpot Cohort, which formed in September 2015 and received its name after reliably achieving weekly, self-organized potlucks. For a while, I felt my greatest contribution was clementines. Now, I recognize the value in opening my mind and soul to those administrators and peers. Since lack of identity and trust are both pervasive and perennial issues in public administration, I was able to actively, regularly participate in the solution. May this project - a product of process and progress - demonstrate who we are and contribute to what we do.
Q: WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT OF HEEL ME?
A: Let me know if you want to participate! I am still conducting interviews. In the fall, I will complete my research, heavily edit Crockpot Capstone, and then combine all findings to describe a shared narrative for social entrepreneurs in public administration.
Q: SOUNDS LIKE YOU’RE JUST RE-SUBMITTING OLD HOMEWORK.
A: I miss you too, Ego. I’d be happy to chat somewhere else about the perfect absurdity of me demonstrating KSAs with demonstrations of KSAs. This is a Q&A space. Do you have a question?
Q: HA!! MADE YOU ASK THE QUESTION!
